Who is Rachel?

I actually got a comment asking “Who is Rachel”? And when I didn’t respond, I got a phone call today asking again.  So, here is a fun story and a photo that has my friend, Rachel, in it.

Our church is having a women’s retreat this Fall.  To help offset the cost so that younger women can attend, we have come up with a couple ideas to raise funds.  One such idea was to sell sno-cones at our school’s open house this week.  It was a GREAT success.  In 1 1/2 hours they sold 228 sno-cones!!  WOW!

Rachel (!), Jean, and Cindy are set up and ready to sell! Just look at Cindy’s hair blowin’ in the breeze. . .lookin’ good.
There is not much one could do to make this photo worse – but it commemorates the fact that we gals went to buy a sno-cone and make a memory.
So did these kids. . .
. . .and this one (smile).

Sad Sad Birthday

There is a list a mile long of how I really goofed up my husband’s birthday this year.  I am, to your delight, NOT going to make that list for you.  I AM going to show you the pathetic excuse for a cake that marked the day my Honey turned 34:

Yep! That’s a Betty Crocker Warm Delights microwave fudge brownie, folks; the bottom of the barrel, if you will.  I did put vanilla ice cream on it.  Does that help at all?
On another note – doesn’t Honey look thin?? He has been running every evening and is just shrinking and shrinking.  (Male metabolism you mock me!) If Honey was a woman, the fact that I called him thin would make up for the goofed up birthday. . . what do you say, Babe??

Big Boy on the Bus

Bubba rode the bus to school on Monday.  Technically Bubba is still two years old – for 11 more days.  It was hard watching my little “2 for 11 more days” year old getting onto that bus.
The wait got to be a little longer than we planned so he joined Little on the porch.  She is an old pro and so she took some time to walk him through the finer points of bus etiquette (which she had apparently jotted down in this large red book during her spare time).
KB watched from inside:

Besides the fact that you can actually see how dirty my front door is, isn’t this photo hilarious??

And here is my little man ON the bus.  The driver, Linda, was Little’s driver last year. Oh, you mean you can’t see her because she is successfully hiding behind the “2 for 11 more days” year old? Well, she was there and she was sweet to try and help me get a standard photo of my little man looking at the camera and smiling.  I told her that this was really a better capture of who he really is – a little boy getting on a bus for the first time; completely mesmerized by the buttons and gadgets.  I love it.
