Christmas With the Kicks – The Guests

Was just telling my sister today that “blogging” about big events is hard for me. I don’t know why that is. . . for example I never blogged about the conference in Philly this summer. Hmmph. So, I am going to attempt to blog about our Christmas. There is too much to say but Memom and Grandma need pictures so I have to get a move on.

These are the Jacksons – also known as my sister and her family – or Anna, Brice, and Cole. They arrived Tuesday and stayed until Sunday and it was FUN.

I like to call this photo, “If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Join ‘Em”. My children always stand in front of the TV while watching. I have tried almost everything to break the pattern but Little usually finds her way to lean on the yellow chair and Bubba opens the bottom cabinet doors and finds his place. Cole got fed up with being unable to see and . . . well, “joined ’em”.

Clearing up the Confusion

** I preface this post by saying – I am not calling anyone an idiot.

Thanks to my friend Marcie for helping me to understand why people kept cheering for my stint at WalMart being over. The title “Last Night at Walmart” actually meant “The night before this morning, while I was at WalMart” NOT “It was my last night to work at WalMart”. OH CONTRARE! I have been given part time status instead of seasonal, so now I have a discount. Can I get a woohoo??

God has been providing for us in big ways, so we’ll see how much longer I need to stay. Thankfully, it has been a good experience and I am enjoying myself.

On another note, I took KB to see the doctor this morning – you know, Dr. Dave who visited the Wally World a couple weeks back – anyway, his first question. . . “How’s Wal-Mart treatin’ ya?” All I could think was, “a humble and contrite heart He does not despise.”

Creative Christmas Gifts

Every year my husband and I exchange gifts that cost no money.  The idea is credited to family friends who have done this for over 50 years of marriage – woohoo! This makes nine for us and I think my Honey teared up for the first time.  Here’s what I gave him:

I kept a calendar last year and each day wrote down one way he was my hero that day.  Things ranged from bringing me keys when I locked mine in the car to emptying the dishwasher to playing pretend with Little (which is no small feat).  I got the picture printed at Walgreens with overage money (free money means I didn’t pay) and slipped it in as the cover to the calendar.
It is good to have for me too – I can go read over it on days that seem harder/less heroic.
Merry Christmas, Honey.
**Oh, and if you are wondering what I got this year – – personalized ring tones and wallpaper on my phone! I am SOOO excited.  I just have to tell him what I want and he is going to set it up for me.  Have a suggestion for yourself???
