What I Got For Little’s Birthday

Five years ago God gave us Little and a life we never expected. You may be expecting a mushy post about my love for my daughter. Or maybe you are expecting cuteness and photos about the birthday, the party, the t-shirt – – that will come. For now you are getting a post about the CRICUT!!!!

That’s right, people, my Honey surprised me with a Cricut Electronic Cutter and my scrapbooking just went to a whole new level (as did my appreciation for my Honey *wink*).

I would like to publicly thank Honey for being so supportive of my creative endeavors. I would like to thank Megan for exposing me to the beauty of the Cricut and I would like to thank Joann’s Fabrics for having a kick-booty sale in honor of March being National Craft Month. Thank you.

What should I make first??

Color Blind or Prince Fan?

Bubba and I have been working through a Kumon coloring book – one picture a day. This guy Kumon developed a method that helped his child build skill upon skill to learn hand control, letters, and even math. We have only done a few days but it has been fun to watch Bubs scribble with a purpose. He has had very little interest in coloring and has poor control of his grasp so this has been good.

The first picture was an omelet with a boy holding a ketchup bottle upside down over it – Bubba was to draw ketchup all over the omelet. He grabbed the red marker and carefully drew squiggles. We talked about how Pop makes GREAT omelets and that picture has been set aside just for Pop.

The next day there was a bald man and we gave him hair. We talked about Grandpa and how he was balding. . . just kidding. We didn’t.

The third picture showed three snails with umbrellas (no arms, but umbrellas. Hmm.) and dark clouds in the sky. Bubba was to draw rain. He grabbed his marker and had some fun.

This is dedicated to David Nolda, the biggest Prince fan I know:

Yeah, Purple Rain. Can you believe it? (He didn’t like the umbrellas. As he marked them out he said, “Bye Bye Umbrellas. No more umbrellas today.” Maybe the “no arms” thing was weirding him out too.)

CurrClick

“Curr Click = Your one-stop shop for electronic lap books, affordable curriculum, and homeschooling resources. Unit study, novel study, bargain home study online downloads for home education!”

My sister-in-law introduced me to a website called CurrClick and I am so grateful. I am not homeschooling at this point (as you could tell by the pictures of my children getting on the buses back in August) but some of the materials on this site seem great and things I can use at home as we go. I haven’t bought a thing, but every few days they offer a free download. I have gotten sheets for scissor practice, Proverbs Paper Dolls, curriculum on the Beatitudes and more.

Today there is another free download. A book filled with family activities for Lent. I just downloaded it and looked through it and am excited about how this could affect our Easter season. I am usually frustrated by this time of year. So much “prep” is done leading up at Christmas and yet Easter just pops up on us with only the forewarning of Palm Sunday.

So, go here to check it out. You do have to register with the site in order to download the item but they haven’t been a bother to me.

Do you already have a way you prepare for Easter??
