S*I*M*P*L*I*F*Y – February 19

5 Things:
Boo Boo Bunny we have had since Little was BORN and NO ONE has ever used.
Fake Rubix cube that won’t turn and NO ONE in my house is interested in solving.
Broken blood pressure toy from yard sale loser purchase.
Stack of Valentines Day stuff.
Pacifier.  Please don’t ask me where this came from or how old it is – I just don’t know.
I promise not to take a picture of this every day for the rest of the year.  Maybe once a week to keep me honest. . .

Valentines Recap

I LOVED Valentines Day this year. It was fun to make it a family holiday and celebrate every day. The cards in the mailbox didn’t really go over well with the kids – they are just too young to really “get it”, but the daily coconut hearts with a reason I love Honey taped on each one, went over just great. Each day when we sat down at the table, Little would quote, “We love because He first loved us.” and my heart would sing.

As far as gifts go, I decided to put Honey out of any misery he might feet between Feb. 13 – 14 and just let him know what I wanted for Valentines Day. I asked that he not spend any money – just clean my car. (Honey LOVES to wash the cars! Really.) He said okay and I wondered if he had heard me.

I worked all day Saturday and when I got home I noticed the light had been left on in the van. I smiled to myself and walked over to the sparkling white vehicle. Here’s how the inside looked:

What a guy!!!
So, we went inside and I showered him with kisses. . .
Cookies and Cream Hershey Kisses – that is!!!

S*I*M*P*L*I*F*Y

At the beginning of the year, my friend Annie mentioned that she is getting rid of 5 things every day this year just like she did last year. My mind EXCLAIMED, “WHAT???” and I immediately resolved to ask her about this and potentially undertake the same commitment myself.

Today is February 18 and just yesterday I wrote Annie about why she does this and what kind of stuff she gets rid of, etc. She wrote back PROMPTLY (no 2 month delay for her) and explained herself and I have decided this is for me! She encouraged me to focus on one specific area each day and told me that some days she might count out five pencils she has never sharpened or five items of clothing she hasn’t worn all season, etc. Five is doable, eh?

So, today I “focused” on the fridge and, specifically, outdated condiments. I was supposed to pick five but went ahead and pulled out all 18!!! to discard. (The first day I forget to grab five things I will tell myself that I have two free days of condiments saved up.) My fridge door looks great and it encouraged me to chop and freeze the two red peppers I had bought that would have gone bad if left another day without freezing. Thanks, Annie!
