Despicable WEather

Halloween was a dreary day in middle-America. The rain was coming down from the time we got up until after the sun went down. I admit that I did spend a bit of time fretting over what we would do and, just like scripture says, it took care of itself. The Lord in His kindness chose to stop the rain just long enough for us to visit about ten houses and see some friends. Good times.

Because of the weather we had told the children that we would go for dinner and have dessert. At the last second we pulled into Wendy’s (can’t remember the last time I went to a Wendy’s) and ordered from the $1 menu and had frosties. Fun part of this story? The kids had to wear their costumes in and almost every worker came out and took their picture. We were the only customers and I am willing to guess that not a lot of trick-or-treaters had come by . . . those folks were thrilled to see little kids in costume.

The first guy looked at Bubba and said, “Are you that guy from that movie??” Bubba looked at him for a minute and said flatly, “I’m Gru from Despicable Me.” The gentleman then turned to the back of the kitchen, yelled a friend’s name and said, “It’s that guy from that movie!”

It all made me feel like my brother who can’t leave his home in Asia without someone taking a photo of his blond-hair, blue-eyed, Chinese speaking daughter. It was just like that but . . . nothing like that. Anyway, it was a great memory made because we had despicable weather. His ways are perfect.
