Another Month. . . Anybody still out there?

July has come and gone and I cannot tell you how many blog posts I have written in my mind.  You would have loved them.  LOTS of deep thoughts.  LOTS of funny stories.  Real good stuff.

It has been a crazy summer and I have felt like I was drowning for all but 30 minutes of it.  Instead of whining I will show you a couple photos of some fun things we managed to fit in along the way.

July 4th was spent in the traditional manner. . . a parade in Webster with Miss Shelley.  The kids started talking about it in early June and Bubba asked me what I thought we would be having for brunch more times than I can count.  (We had pancakes, bacon, and so much fresh fruit.  Heaven.) Image

Everything was wonderful except for the brief moment when I thought the “Battle of the Bulge” float was empty because everyone had died. . . I literally started crying.  Sheesh.  It was the wrong group and our beloved Vets were two jeeps behind.  There was one less but just the one.ImageThis little slice of Americana is special to me and my family – Ms. Shelley is more special.  I am so thankful that this July marks a year since we committed to save one day a month to hang out and we did it.  I love my dear friend and I’m so very thankful we were thrown into Wash U. together so MANY years ago (11!!!!).

Little loves her too.

What else in July? There were two weeks of Variety Adventure Camps and two of the most precious counselors around.  This brother/sister duo cared for my brother/sister duo to my delight.  These guys attend the Christian high school around the corner and Corey was Bubba’s counselor last year.  Bubba was thrilled to see him again and talked non-stop about all the hoops they shot and the swimming they did.  What a joy.ImageLastly, for now, there was “Donuts in Pajamas” Day at Krispy Kreme.  No, it wasn’t something the store planned but it has become a Kicklighter “tradition”.  Bubba informed me one Friday night that the next morning “would be a great opportunity for us to drive to Krispy Kreme and have donuts in our pajamas like we always do.”  He was right – it was a good morning – and so we went and made another memory.  I love my family.ImageWhat did you do the first half of July? Anybody still reading here?
