As I mentioned, the parents wanted to take each child out for an individual “playdate” while they visited. KB, my creative wizard, was up first and Memom took her to the Craft Caboose. It was the perfect place for her with pretend play and a space for her to do arts and crafts where someone ELSE would clean up!

When asked what she wanted to make, KB picked out a plane for Bubba and a wand for Little. Such a sweet kid.
Bubba was up next and he had asked if he could go to the Monster Truck store with Pop to replace the monster truck that KB had broken. His grandparents were happy to oblige. First they took him to Steak and Shake for lunch and then it was off to see the Monster Truck! (this year’s photo beside 2010’s photo)
Little brought up the rear with a trip to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts and then to Pet Smart to see/pet the animals.Little is convinced she wants a pet and prays that the Lord will give us our own house where we can have a dog. Meanwhile, she talks about having a hamster since she believes Mr. Meyer (the landlord) would allow it. Then our friend Dave gets her thinking about a cat which will NEVER happen (Honey has allergies).
We went to dinner too. . . Pappy’s Smokehouse; no photos from there. I am so thankful for the time to talk together. We ended up going home and sitting around the kitchen table and talking a lot more. I am so blessed that my folks make the trip up together every year. I look forward to it for 11 months and my favorite thing to do with my folks is sit together and talk serious. It wasn’t until we did this that I felt it really was a good trip. We needed our “play date” with them too!
Note to self: schedule sitter for BEGINNING of visit next time.
Great ideas! I bet the grands had as much fun as the kids! Glad you got your “playdate”, too!
I thought it was a train for Bubba. . .and Pop didn’t go. Am I going to have to take care of you instead of the other way around?
No pictures showed up for KB. I had to open the question mark and got a full size screen.
And again I must tell you…Dave likes kittens!
Where, oh where is this monster truck store? I need to take my boys! (:
