Shannon, over at Rocks in My Dryer, is having a haiku contest today. I entered. I was feeling pretty confidant until I realized there were PAGES of comments/entries!!! Still, it was fun to be challenged to think outside my white farmhouse box.
The challenge was to write a Haiku about school beginning again.
Here’s my Haiku:
“Two kids in Preschool
Every day bus schedules changing.
Mom’s heart can’t take either.”
I know you are struck with the depth and complexity. Such meaning packed into a 5 syllable/7 syllable/5 syllable compilation. I will be silent now so you can regain your composure.
I think mine went something like this:>>UPS is here>Another box already?>Ma’am, do you homeschool?>>Then, because it was like 1am when I did it, I left one for Craig on the whiteboard:>>Stayed up way too late>Tomorrow will be tricky>Happy with my list>>>Sometimes I’m just plain dumb and I can admit it.
I liked your Haiku. I went to the blog and voted for my favorite. It was the one about drop kicking a first grader. π Is that wrong that I voted for that one…? It looks like 75% agreed with me. I was just startled to see a mom write that out loud. π
Pigtails and backpack>Walking away from me now>She’s ready, I’m not
