Lists, Day Nine

Today’s list topic was, “Weird Things That Make You Cry”. This topic was fun to think about. I cried all the time in college, but it’s not quite as ridiculous anymore. Still, if I laugh hard enough I will end up sobbing. If I sing just about any Keith and Kristin Getty song in a full church I turn into a blubbering idiot. The movie, “Hope Floats” . . . I’m pathetic.

What’s a weird thing that makes you cry?

30 Days of Lists

20130905-000129.jpg

I have to say, day four of listing and it’s a bit heavier than I was planning. Maybe I am just off this week and so I am taking it too seriously; I don’t know.

Today we listed our “favorite time wasters”(a bit of an oxymoron yet all too easy to think of), but yesterday we were asked to list “Things Younger Me Would Like About Current Me”. Instead of running to pick up my pen and fill a page, I lost my breath and went to the shower – my thinking place.

I am not the person younger me would be excited about . . . somewhere along the way I got off track.

I guess it depends on the age of younger me, really. Eight year old me would think that I am awesome. I owns lots of different kinds of pens and I write my thoughts on a blog and people read them. I know the words to lots of songs and I live in a big city with fun things to do. I am no longer taking piano lessons. I’m married and I’m a fun mom. Eight year old me would love all that.

24 year old me would be sorely disappointed with me. I don’t know that I am going to list the ways here (that hasn’t been assigned yet) but it would read for a great New Year’s Resolution post. Maybe I’ll make that list on the back of the other and then go journal through those thoughts.

Seriously, I don’t think the girls who came up with this idea meant to cause this much introspection. One of them wrote “I’m still in love with Pepsi.” Another wrote, “I still play video games”. Yeah, I’m overthinking.
