Sicky-poo

IMG_20131113_181624

Wednesday was spent splitting caregiver duty for a sick Little.  There’s very little grosser than a stomach bug and pull-ups on a 9 year old.  Yep – you thought your day stunk (pun intended) – count your lucky stars, folks.

Of course there is always a funny thing around here.  We have a long roll of paper hanging up and we are writing things we are thankful for each day.  Today I wrote a very sincere and vulnerable item on the list. When Bubba got home I saw him look at the list and heard him mutter, “Thankful for XL pull-ups? Who is thankful for pull-ups?” and then giggle and giggle.  Just keepin’ it real, folks.  Just keeping it real.

“When I Have Kids. . .”

There are all these things my kids do that are NOT “normal”.  I often wonder what other homes look like and it’s usually good for me to hear Regan talk about things her boys do so that I can challenge my kids to rise to the challenge and similarly.

Emptying the dishwasher is one of the chores that has been delegated to our children for some time now.  It started with KB doing the top shelf, Bubba doing the bottom shelf, and Little emptying the silverware (Little HATES getting wet and there is usually some water on glasses that splatters on her when she tries to do a shelf; this has been an acceptable compromise – for now).

????????

Recently I heard Bubba telling his sister, “I can’t wait until I have kids so I can tell them, ‘Hey you, empty the dishwasher!'”  I laughed to myself and thought, “Now THAT was a super normal moment indeed!”
