Things Heard At the Blue Hutch

A couple weeks ago KB said, “Bye-Bye, Car.” It’s very telling that her first word combo would be directed at traffic. That gal has spent quite a bit of time in her car seat.

Today KB said, “Bubba STOP.” Another very telling phrase. Wonder how many times she has heard that one??

Little’s new response to just about any question is, “Of course I will.” It’s adorable. The alternative is “I certainly will.” The opposite side to this coin of pleasantry, is her favorite thing to say to her siblings, “DO NOT TOUCH ME.”

Bless her sweet heart, I have been trying to teach her new phrases to say in a loving tone and tonight she got it halfway right. Bubba and KB were climbing all over her and pushing her nose (like a horn). She had yelled “NO DON’T TOUCH ME” a couple times and saw my face. She quickly changed to YELLING “Bubba and Sissy I am asking you not to touch me!!!!!” Such a nice phrase. Still working on the loving tone.

My Daddy

Funny – all around the blogosphere folks are posting about their Father’s. I didn’t. I had a day.

I did get to talk to my daddy around 8:30PM after my sweet brother woke me up (I fell asleep at 7:30) to tell me to call back – daddy was finally home. (I had called multiple times already between 6:45 – 7:30 to see if he was home from church yet.)

Sounds like he had a good day spent with his first born, a stop in by his youngest, and grandchildren. I imagine that the only thing that could have made it better would have been a big squeeze from his middle kid. Can’t wait to deliver my Father’s Day hug on Friday!!!

On a different note, I have a question. . .
Why is it that I used to have photos of me with my daddy, but now when I go searching for a photo to post I can only find pictures of him with grandchildren??? Hmmmm.

I mean, they’re cute pictures and all but the lack of me in photos with Pop is something I am going to remedy next week, for sure!

Fathers’ Days

My Father-in Law is pretty great. I’ve loved him since I first met him. Bless his heart, I was already engaged to his son at that point.

Ours is quite a story really. Jeriald and I have done three weddings in our 9 years! He was best man in our wedding. 18 months later I attended his wedding to Linda (Jeriald’s first wife passed away before I ever met her). And then a couple years later there was “little brother’s” wedding. Yep! The family has grown every couple of years through weddings and births – it’s a happy story.

One of the hard things about living in the Midwest is being SO FAR from family. I’m a fair piece from my folks, but Honey’s dad is over 14 hours by car. Shaun (the little brother) lives in a Texas border town – 18 hours and 26 minutes according to GoogleMaps (and I don’t think they included stops for three small children). Needless to say, Honey doesn’t see his family very often. It makes me sad. It makes Honey even sadder. It makes Jeriald really really sad. Kicklighter men are tough men with super gentle hearts – sentimental to a fault. They love each other like crazy.

So, for father’s day I gave Uncle Honey four days in south Georgia.

We gave Jeriald his sons.

Shaun’s wife, Monica, gave Shaun his son – she flew in from Texas.

It has been sad to miss the fun and family but I have to say that every call from Honey has made me smile. Seems they are having a ball. I am so thankful he got to go.

And so thankful that women were present, Linda and Monica, to take and email pictures!

Hurry home, Honey!
