The Giveaway

My little baby is two.
Her big brother has a temperature of 102 so Monkey Joe’s as a family was out. Right now Honey has Little and the Birthday Girl at the zoo – checking out the monkey house (in keeping with our theme) and just plain monkeying around. (get it?) He has the camera and will give a full report.

We won’t have cake and gifts until after nap time, but I couldn’t wait to give you guys your gifts! I used Random.org to select the winners of The Jesus Storybook Bible.

(Drum roll)

Amy Wood
Shannon Kennedy

I’ll need an email from you, Shannon to let me know if you are still on Robin Road. Amy, I have your address! I will mail these out Nov. 2 (I need to get through the birthday and Halloween!)

Everyone else – chin up – I still have 8 or 9 to disperse!

A Leaf Walk

You remember that song we used to sing, “Goin‘ on a bear hunt. . .”? Yea, well, we didn’t do that. We went on a leaf hunt. At least that is what we were going to do, but this is the kind of cooperation I got from the children:

I said let’s walk this way and they ran that way. I said look at this leaf and they had to go to the bathroom. I said look at the camera and they looked anywhere else. It was ridiculous. And look at the leaves, people. They were gorgeous and everywhere – “ripe” for the picking!

I finally coerced the kids to gather a few of the fallen treasures (I was planning for us to iron them between wax paper but lost the joy QUICKLY)

and even got a picture with them all looking at the camera.
Nice, eh? So happy to be there.
To sum up. . . My plan to celebrate Fall with a leaf walk fell flat.

It is Finished

Now we are just waiting for this guy to come out. Yeah, the one that is jutting out because it is loose. The one that is turning dark because the root is broken. The one that is making my darling little 5 year old look like she chews tobacco and opens beer bottles with her teeth. . . I mean tooth.

Little had never heard about the tooth fairy and so I told her about how one puts their newly lost tooth into the pocket on the pillow and hangs it on the door when they go to sleep. Then the tooth fairy will come, take the tooth (she looked dismayed), and leave some money (her eyes lit up – it was as if she was thinking, “How can I get all my teeth to come out?”). She asked one question, “Will my tooth grow back?” I let her know that a new tooth would grow in just like Buddy, the TRex on The Dinosaur Train and she felt much better.

When daddy got home she told him, “I’m going to put my tooth in the pillow and the fairy will take it and give me money for my piggy bank. I’m going to save it for my laptop.”

Oh, haven’t I told you? Little is saving for a laptop of her very own. That’s another post.
