More First Days

Monday found our youngest heading out for the first day of Toddler Time.  T2, as I like to call it, is our church’s mother’s morning out program and KB will be attending two days a week this year.  It’s like pre-preschool.  She wore red because the first week’s focus was the color red.  We now have a beautifully dot-painted picture of Clifford the Big Red Dog on our frig and there is no doubt what’s red around the house.

Mrs. Kelli and Mrs. Jennifer are KB’s teacher’s this week.  Mrs. Kelli’s daughter, Alexis is in Bubba’s class downstairs and Mrs. Jennifer heads up our nursery ministry at church.  They are both super and I can’t wait to see how KB grows over the course of the year.

Another first for Monday. . . it was Honey’s first seminary class. . . TO TEACH!!

That’s right folks – Honey is  assisting in the teaching of a class and he’s really excited about it.  Dr. Burns, the Professor already used a couple of Honey’s points of input and had Honey handle the question/discussion time in class.  Honey’s cute about it.  I am thrilled for him.

Our friend, April, is in the class.  I’ll have to see how she thinks things go. . .

This was also my first day at home with no children for 2.5 hours.  I changed all the sheets and then sat in my clean house and soaked up it’s cleanliness, knowing that it would be dirty within 3 min. of the children returning home.  Sigh.  It was.

Bubba’s Birthday – Give it a rest?

Okay, so I know it was only a birthday and you are over it.  Still, I plan to print this someday AND relatives far and wide enjoy seeing our little man’s face, so bear with me.

Every year there is a birthday shirt and why should 2010 be any different.  Bubba was sent off to school Monday in, I believe, his coolest birthday shirt ever.  Know how old he is?

After a day of preschool partying, Bubs headed home for cake.  Little had been telling him for days that there would be a big cake for him on his birthday.  When we dropped her off at school, her last words were, “And when we get home Bubba will have a big cake!” He did.

Thanks to Honey there were candles for Bubba to blow out.  (I bought some but could not find them!!! Anywhere.)  Bubs did a great job and had unsolicited help from all around him.

Then there were presents opened under the watchful eye of the sisters:

AND an impromptu scavenger hunt because mom (that’s me) forgot to wrap the presents she bought.  Yes.  Forgot.  So I hid them behind cushions and throughout the evening he got to look behind another cushion.  Good times.

In the end there were a lot of Legos, AutoBGood DVDs, and one happy boy.

Many gifts means many thank you notes.  We are doing one a day. He is writing them using this little help I made and then adding a sentence of his own creation (and spelling).  He hasn’t misspelled a word yet!

Grandparents are not on this wipe board because they are in the second round of note writing.  Memom’s note will need a wipe board of her own and I just found Grandpa’s card today.

So now I need to take Bub’s yearly car shot and we’ll be done.

Bubba’s Birthday Treats

Remember how I wasn’t allowed (by my five year old) to do cupcakes because that “was Grace’s birthday treat”?  Well, I decided to go with donut holes and everyone got five. . . ’cause Bubba is five.  Scrabble tiles were the letter choice for the morning.  Cutesy Cutesy Cutesy!!!
We took water too.  The teacher immediately said that I wasn’t responsible for drinks, but I told her it was part of the party package:
For the afternoon class we went with the letter theme still again.  Scrabble Cheezits + Alphabits + raisins = our own party mix.
Bubba barely ate dinner that night.  Can you fault him?
