Love in any Language

Our house is a very multilingual place at the moment.  Spanish and Mandarin Chinese can be heard at just about anytime from any child; and I am pretty sure KB speaks her own language half the time.

The Spanish is thanks to Bubba’s class at Kirk Day School and a little Diego and Dora mixed in (KB counts to 10 over and over).  This is Bub’s singing a different version of “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”:

The Chinese comes compliments of Ni-Hao, Kai Lan! The kids love this show and I love that they are learning pretty decent lessons on life and learning a bit of Chinese in the process.  KB has a real ear for it.  Little has a surprisingly good memory of it.

The two girls disappeared for awhile last night and I hear chatting and giggling coming from KB’s room.  Little emerged with this piece of work. . . the names of the characters on Ni-Hao, Kai Lan.  She used English phonics so I am not sure how correctly things are spelled, but LOOK AT THAT PENMANSHIP!!

Looks like a call to the cousins is in order so the kids can share their words.  KB is thrilled that she knows words Abigail knows.

March Madness

I come from a background of LOVING college basketball.  Seriously – I could watch for hours and when we were first married, we would.  My yearly bracket was something I looked forward to filling out and it was with pride that  I would watch my picks advance.
Enter deep sigh here.
For the past couple of years my ability to watch has diminished; there is just no time.  This year I have found myself not even wanting to watch because I know so little about what is going on and I have so many other things to get done in the small windows of time I have free.  It is so sad.
Imagine my delight, though, when I walked into the living room this weekend and saw this:
Did you see his little hand peeking around behind Honey’s neck? This is seriously how they were sitting and this is why:
They were watching college basketball.  My heart smiled.  What FUN if our little guy grows up to love basketball!! He doesn’t even have to play. . .just to love it enough that I can sit and watch it with him would be great.
For now, it is special time with his daddy and just look at those faces!! I’ll do whatever I need to do to free Honey up to watch with Bubs at this point.  Such smiles! My two favorite guys. . .
